biography

Born a Canadian, but a true New Yorker at heart,
the mono-monikered “jackson” is a self-taught photographer.

In a former life, as the Public Affairs Director of Canada’s
largest live theater (The Citadel), he hired countless photographers,
cinematographers, and artsits which eventually inspired him to pick up the camera
for himself -- a secret desire he had held from a very early age.

Having been inspired by the works of Weber, Ritts, Mapplethorpe,
Skrebneski, to name but a few, jackson has pursued a similar direction
in photographing the male nude. He also has an extensive body
of work having photographed New York’s nightlife scene
for numerous publications and websites.

When not focussing on his own work, (photographer’s pun intended),
jackson also curates solo and group exhibitions. His past credits
include the highly regarded Golin + Harris shows in the Chrysler Building
and the hugely successful weekly series “Well Hung” at Chelsea’s View Bar.

Jackson works in both film and digital formats.

artist statement

Now living a very blessed life, jackson
enjoys every single moment he spends behind the camera.

In his artwork, he concentrates on capturing the beauty
each model possesses. He gets his greatest thrill from his subjects
when they comment on how surprised and delighted they are
 by their own image.

In trying to find his own voice and vision
in creating highly memorable images, jackson looks to lighting,
line and composition to define each of his shots. He often works
in monochromatic settings to accentuate the attributes of the model
and looks for the intricate play between shadow and light as well as
developing a unique path for the eye to take through the photo.

He has received critical praise for his studio work
in both black & white and color.
